Only ICAN Campaign Overview

ICAN Folley Park Sign Posting

“With eminent municipal growth and dramatic increases in youth daily attendance impacting the viability of the current facility, ICAN has known for some time that relocation would be necessary in order to maintain and advance the quality of programs offered to the community.  In 2009, the ICAN Board of Directors officially committed attention to this need in their 5 year strategic plan,” Patti Bruno shared, speaking about the growth ICAN has experienced, and the need for relocation and expansion.

The Only ICAN Campaign officially launched on November 15, 2010 and has the primary objective of gaining the capital needed to build and relocate ICAN’s quality programs.  ICAN is serving nearly 140 youth daily in its afterschool programs and has outgrown the outdated 6,000 square foot facility it currently resides in, leaving little room for the growth that ICAN needs to continue to provide more services and programs to the youth and families in the Chandler Redevelopment Area.

Recognizing that ICAN was in the path of future municipal buildings as well, the City of Chandler helped ICAN secure a 2.5 acre portion of Folley Park to build a new center.  The new building will continue to offer programs to the youth of the downtown Chandler area as an alternative to the gang activity and substance abuse that exists in their community.

The new ICAN facility is just one part of the future vision for ICAN which includes expanded programming and services that will benefit Chandler youth, their families, and the community.
